God is Speaking Today
You can argue religion, politics, faith, fantasy even life. God you can't argue. God Exists. What you do with that is your own business. Jesus Exists. It is a Fact He was Born. It is a Fact He Died. It is a fact He rose again. It is a fact He is Coming Soon. The facts He Said is that He is the Son of God. He said He was Sent by His Father to Save the World. Jesus Said the only Way the World would be saved was by Him. The Facts Jesus said is God Loves You, God sent His Son for you, God did not send the Son to condemn the World. Jesus Said, Hell was real, Judgment was real, People will not believe even if somone was raised from Death or Hell itself. Those are the facts. Here you can read about How to Know the Facts, the Reason is Obvious. It just might save you for eternal life with God, or eternity without Him. That is a Fact. When you read these posts, You Hear God Speak. What You Do When You Hear God Speak To You, is up to you. Salvation is accomplished by responding to God when He speaks to you. Listening is your choice. Time is Short, Do listen and Follow what God Tells You Today---Michael James Stone

One Thousand Years: Genesage "The Land Eretz" (Chp3:5)
One Thousand Years
Genesage
“The Land Eretz”
(Chp3:5)
The clouds were lessening through time and Eben knew one day the Sun would burst forth again shining.
Today at Sixty nine years into the Kingdom more or less, Eben knew a time of change was about to occur. It was in the air, the atmosphere felt different. Anticipation was in the land. He sensed changes occurring.
Eben always stared east out the window for a moment of silence.
Facing Jerusalem from where his dwelling place sat. Funny thing was it might not be the east he remembered. He was almost certain it was not. Too much had changed and there was no way to be that oriented now. Not with the Earth the way it was. Maybe later, but since old things had passed away..,
Since the earth had literally fallen over from its axis onto what used to be its equator everything had changed. Russia or what was left of that area was now east of Israel with the American Continents combined. They were all shoved together pieced as part of a land mass North of Israel.
To Americans aghast with the idea, the once American continent was now approximate to where Gog and Magog should be. Perhaps a sense of irony or justice as the last Kingdom on Earth had been American.
It certainly had provided a great platform for the False Messiah to use.
All land masses were exposed as no oceans existed. In certain areas only a gurgling Wellspring and a River marked the land. Not much remained, nothing was the same. Even Noah was shocked at this devastation as he viewed it.
In the beginning of the Kingdom the King of all Kings had stood and declared "Behold Eretz".
Some caught a vision for a moment of ecce homo when “behold the man” referred to Jesus in his trial before the Roman Procurator Pontius Pilate.[1]
When he spoke the words, it was assumed he meant this land was for the Jew or at the least Children of Israel only. Everyone knew Y’shua was the Jewish Messiah and so Jews had an inheritance yet to be fulfilled in the Land.
But God had done more.
He had purpose and plan yet to be fulfilled in His Will.
He had saved gentiles. He had adopted them in as fellow brethren to the Family of God. Adopted those who were not his people but who had become sons. Sons and Daughters of the Inheritance even as Joseph had once done.
New Yisra’el as a Nation was to the Jew first, then the gentile. And lands were set apart for both.
The rest of the One land mass became Eretz, simply, “the Land.”
Later it became obvious as there was “The Land” and “The Promised Land”. There was a difference between the two. God had made separation between the Holy and the profaned, he did so also with the Promised Land and The Land.
Messiah had divided the lands assigning the boundaries of the Tribal States of Israel in the Kingdom with the portions set aside in the Land that was promised. The entire Land Mass, the one continent, he now called, "Eretz". The land or Land.
Eben had thought it sounded almost like living genesis all over again.
Only this time in the Kingdom of God instead of the Kingdom of Man.
A Genesis Age.
Instead of,
"Let there be"
Jesus said,
"Behold".
At the time, as He said it, Messiah had looked over at Eben almost reading his thoughts.
Eben remembered a few years later at the Jubilee Celebration, 50KA (Kingdom Age). Jesus in Jerusalem had declared that the Seven Rivers were being restored.
He had stood again saying,
"Behold Mayim"[i].
Once again Eben caught the eye of the Great King as he declared it. Again Eben recalled his thoughts that this was indeed a Genesis Age for the Kingdom of God, the thousand years.

SERIES: Daniel (Dare To Be God’s Messenger)
TITLE: Program 4 – God’s Man
OPEN
Does it seem to you my friend as if there’s an increasing animosity in our society towards those who really profess to know Jesus Christ?
In other words it would be better for you not to let it be known that you are a Christian than to take a stand or to hold to absolutes, because our society really doesn’t like it. They want to push us in a corner. They want us to stay quiet. They want us to stay within the church. Is that what we’re supposed to do or does God have a purpose for us today?
PART ONE
It is good that we’re feeling animosity because you know what? It’s a sign that we are in the last of the last days. Because when you get to the last of the last days men’s hearts get harder. They get more antagonistic towards anyone who is living for Jesus Christ. Why? Because we are a thorn in their sides.
We are a, a thorn in their eyes and they don’t like that. They just want to shove us in a corner because they want to live in blatant sin. They want to be their own god. They want to do their own thing. They want to walk by their own knowledge. They want to walk by their own understanding, by their own wisdom. And they don’t want any interference. And so they just want to get rid of us. Now Daniel was in a culture that was in opposition to the God of Israel. They did not believe in the God of Israel.
As a matter of fact they thought that their gods were stronger than the God of Israel because they had just captured Jerusalem. They had taken away the king. They had taken away the king’s family, the nobles, and the young men from the royal court. And so they were in opposite, they were in juxtaposition with all that Daniel stood for. Now, when we come to Daniel, chapter 1 we find Daniel being educated in the ways of the Babylonians. And you don’t find him bucking this. You don’t find him saying I’m sorry, but I can’t study those books because they’re not Jewish books. They’re in opposition to our God. No.
He studied what they wanted him to study. He was the captive. But what he studied did not change his convictions. He lived under their rules unless their rules conflicted with his beliefs. And then when their rules conflicted with his beliefs he didn’t just throw himself into a tantrum, but he came up with a way and he persuaded the official to let him do it. Let me read it to you in the Word of God. Now, remember in our last lesson we looked at the fact that Daniel made up his mind. So that’s the verse that we’re going start with.
I hope that you’re doing your homework. I hope that you’ve read Daniel, chapter 1 and you’ve colored every reference to Nebuchadnezzar in one color and every reference to Daniel in another. So watch now in verse 8. But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s, (and so you would mark that like Nebuchadnezzar), choice food or with the wine, which he, Nebuchadnezzar drank. So he, Daniel, (that’s why you’ve got to mark your pronouns in the right color, so that you make sure you know who the he is), so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself. It says, now God granted Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials.
Now what I want you to see is that they are in captivity because as chapter 1, verse 2 says, the Lord gave them, gave Jehoiakim the king of Judah, into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar. Now you see God moving again, so you want to mark this. And as I told you, I mark anything in, as a reference to God in yellow. Now God granted Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials. Watch the progress here. Watch who’s in charge. But watch the responsibility of man. All right, here they want him to conform and to eat what they eat etc. And so Daniel makes up his mind he’s not going to do that. Then God backs up Daniel. When God sees Daniel making up his mind that Daniel is going to do what God tells him to do and he’s going to be obedient to God and he’s not going to defile himself. See this is what I want you to understand.
For him to eat what the king was eating, for him to drink what the king was drinking was against the Word of God and therefore, if Daniel had submitted to that he would have been defiling himself. Now what is very interesting is you have Daniel mentioned, you have Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, his, his three cohorts mentioned, but there were lots more that came from Jerusalem all the way up along the river and down into present day Iraq, old ancient Babylon.
There were a lot more that came on that journey and went into captivity. But as far as we know there are only four men here, led and spearheaded by Daniel that have determined that they’re not going to defile themselves. The others fade into the background. But Daniel was handling it accurately. And because Daniel handled the Word accurately, because he wouldn’t put one foot in the Babylonian culture, he was going to stand. Yes, he may be living in the midst of this nation that did not know God, but he would not defile himself. And when he made that decision, when Daniel made up his mind, then God granted him favor. You say, but listen Kay; I have stood for God. I’ve stood for God in my office.
I’ve stood for God in my school. I’ve stood for God there and it has cost me dearly. I didn’t get that promotion. I didn’t have favor. I want to tell you something: God does not always deliver you out of a difficult situation. God does not always immediately let you come out the winner. But God has a purpose and when you determine that you’re going to be God’s man, God’s woman, when you determine that you’re going to serve God’s purpose in your generation, even as David and others did, then you can know this, that whatever happens, God is in charge.
God is covering your backside, so to speak. God is there and He is before you. He is behind you. He is on each side of you and He is inside of you and you’ve got it made. You say, but it’s not coming out in this fairy tale way. It doesn’t always come out in this fairy tale way, but listen; this is not the end of the story. This is not the end. There is a future coming and in that future God is going to reward. When Jesus Christ comes He’s bringing His reward with Him to give to everyone of us according to our deeds. So there is a day of recognition coming.
There is a day of reward coming. There is a day of God patting you on the back and saying well done, My good and beloved servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord. But God’s there. God’s there. And God becomes like your rear guard and He’s behind you protecting you. And so it says now God granted Daniel favor and compassion. And the reason that He granted Daniel favor and compassion was because He had a place that He wanted Daniel to serve Him. And Daniel had to prove that he was worthy of that place. And he proved it when he made up his mind not to defile himself.
You need to make up your mind and I need to make up my mind. I’ve done it and I’m sure you have to, that we are not going to defile ourselves with the things of this world, but we’re going to be obedient to God in every aspect. And so it says He granted him favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials, and the commander of the officials said to Daniel, I’m afraid of my lord and the king, who has appointed your food and your drink; for why should he see your faces looking more haggard than the youths who are your own age?
Then you would make me forfeit my head to the king. But Daniel said to the overseer… See Daniel’s thought this thing through and Daniel has a plan and you and I need to think things through. And the best place to think them through is on our knees. And one of the things you’re going to find is that Daniel is a man of prayer. You’re going to see that as you go through and we study this book inductively. Verse 11: But Daniel said to the overseer whom the commander of the officials had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. Remember their names are changed to Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. Please test your servants for ten days, and let us be given some vegetables to eat and water to drink, just herbs and vegetables and water.
Then let our appearance be observed in your presence, and the appearance of the youths who are eating the king’s choice food. In other words look at us after ten days, compare us. And deal with your servants according to what you see. Now listen; did Daniel know that God was with him? Did Daniel know that God honors obedience? Yes, Daniel knew that. And Daniel knew that if he would do what God said, then God would take care of him. So he listened to them, the commander of the officials listened to them in this matter and tested them for ten days.
At the end of the ten days their appearance seemed better and they were fatter than all the youths who had been eating the king’s choice food. So the overseer continued to withhold their choice and wine that they were to drink and kept giving them vegetables. Now when you see the their, yes, it includes Hananiah, and Mishael and Azariah, but you want to include Daniel because it refers to Daniel. So I color it the same thing that I color Daniel. And what do you see? You see that as for these youths God gave them knowledge.
Watch God in this chapter. Because what you want to do is you want to learn everything about God that you can, because Daniel 11:32b says this: The people who know their God are able to stand firm and they’re able to take action. It doesn’t matter what society wants to do to you. It doesn’t matter that society wants to get rid of you. If you know your God, you’re able to stand firm and you’re able to do exploits, great things for Him. Now what are these? We’ll talk about it after the break.
PART TWO
Well let’s get back and let’s finish chapter 1. Let’s go to verse 17. And it says as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in every branch of literature and wisdom; Daniel even understood all kinds of visions and dreams. Now this word dreams is going to become a key word throughout this book and so you want to develop some way to mark it. I put a blue cloud around it and then I color it pink.
And so that’s my symbol for dreams. And you’re going to want to mark it because it’s a key repeated word. So you have four men and these four men have obeyed God. They determine that they were not going to defile themselves. They ate only vegetables. They drank only water and God honored that. Now watch what God is doing. It says in verse 9 that God granted Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials.
Now it says in verse 17 and God gave them knowledge. So you want to mark God gave again. God gave them knowledge and intelligence in every branch of literature and wisdom; Daniel even, so you take Daniel and you separate him from the other three because this book is about this man.
And Daniel was even given understanding in visions and in dreams. And that understanding is what is literally going to save his life and the life of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, as we will see. And it says then, at the end of the days when the king and you would mark this, this is Nebuchadnezzar, had specified for presenting them, the commander of the officials presented them before Nebuchadnezzar.
And the king talked with them, and out of them all not one was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s personal service. Now what has God done? God has caused these men to excel. God has done this and you’re going to see how much God has done when we get to chapter 2.
But God has done this because God has seen that their heart is set on being men of God, no matter what the culture wants to do to them, no matter how the culture wants to squeeze them into their mold. You know in Romans, chapter 12 God talks about us presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable service of worship. And He says and do not be conformed to this world.
Don’t let the world squeeze you into its mold, but be ye transformed. Be changed from the inside out. Metamorphid is the word, to go from being a little ole caterpillar to being a butterfly. But be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you might prove or put to test what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Here were men that had presented themselves to God as living sacrifices.
Here were men that were not going to allow the world to squeeze them into their mold. Here were men who are going to be transformed and God sees that and God honors that. And so if you would stop and summarize and this is what you should do, after you mark a word when you’re studying inductively, then make a list of everything that you see as a result of marking that word. So in Daniel, chapter 1 you would see the first thing that you learn about God is in verse 2, when the Lord gives the king of Judah into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar. In other words it’s the Lord that determines the outcome of the battle.
It’s the Lord that determines who wins the battle. And in this case God’s people did not win the battle because they had compromised, because they had allowed the world to squeeze them into their mold, because they went after the gods of this world instead of worshiping the one and only true God. And so God gives them over. So you can know this: it’s God who determines the outcome of the battle.
All right, and then you come down to verse 9. Now God granted Daniel favor. If you are granted favor with your enemies or with those who do not know the Lord, it’s because God has granted it. And then if you have wisdom or knowledge it’s because God has given it. There is a wisdom that comes from above. In 1 Corinthians, chapter 1 it says that God chooses the base things and the foolish things and the things that are despised and the things that are nothing so that no flesh can glory in His presence. And then it says but Jesus has been made unto us wisdom.
So when you believe in Jesus Christ, when you believe in Jesus Christ and become a child of God you get the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians, chapter 2, you get the wisdom of God which is personified in the person of Jesus Christ. So it says God gave them knowledge and intelligence.
And consequently they shine above all the others and it says that as for every matter of wisdom, verse 20, and understanding about which the king consulted them. The king consulted these youths. It says he found them ten times better than all the magicians and conjurers who were in all his realm. In other words here were four men that were ten times better than the others. And it says and Daniel continued until the first year of Cyrus the king.
What he wants you to know right from the beginning is as a young man, as a youth, although the world wanted me out of the way, although they wanted to push me into the corner, I stood for God and because I stood for God, I stood. And I stood all the way through the first year of Cyrus. I served God in a public position under the Babylonians and under the Medes and the Persians because why, because God honors those who honor Him. And God becomes our rear guard.
Now I want to take you to Ezekiel, chapter 14. And I want to show you something that you need to know and you need to understand for these days. Now remember, Ezekiel is taken captive in the second captivity. The first captivity, Daniel, 605 B.C., second captivity is Ezekiel and ten thousand others in 597 B.C.
The final siege of Jerusalem is in 586 B.C. and that’s where Jeremiah is shining as the prophet. Okay, now in Ezekiel, chapter 14 the word of the Lord comes to Ezekiel saying this: Son of man, if a country sins against Me, by committing unfaithfulness and I stretch out My hand against it, destroy its supply of bread, send famine against it and cut off from it both man and beast.
Now what I want you to see He’s saying if a country sins against Me… I want you to know that our country, the United States of America is sinning against God, blatantly sinning against God. And they’re sinning against God because they are rejecting God. They are rejecting the knowledge of God. They don’t want Christians around. They want them shut up. They only want them opening their mouth in church.
They don’t want them involved in politics. They don’t want them involved in the justice system and they certainly don’t want to hear what Christians believe because they think that there are no absolutes. And He says even though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver themselves, says the Lord God. Even if Noah was there, even if Job was there, even if Daniel was there, they could only deliver themselves by their righteousness. When you go all the way through here what you see is this, only the righteous will survive. He talks about three judgments that He would bring on a country if they sin.
In other words beloved, it doesn’t matter if the world wants to get rid of you; you stand fast. You be God’s man, God’s woman for this hour.

LastCall: He waited until God's sign was given. -Spurgeon Morning
"And David enquired of the Lord." 2 Samuel 5:23
When David made this enquiry he had just fought the Philistines, and gained a signal victory. The Philistines came up in great hosts, but, by the help of God, David had easily put them to flight. Note, however, that when they came a second time, David did not go up to fight them without enquiring of the Lord. Once he had been victorious, and he might have said, as many have in other cases, 'I shall be victorious again;
I may rest quite sure that if I have conquered once I shall triumph yet again. Wherefore should I tarry to seek at the Lord's hands?' Not so, David. He had gained one battle by the strength of the Lord; he would not venture upon another until he had ensured the same. He enquired, 'Shall I go up against them?'
He waited until God's sign was given.
Learn from David to take no step without God. Christian, if thou wouldst know the path of duty, take God for thy compass; if thou wouldst steer thy ship through the dark billows, put the tiller into the hand of the Almighty.
Many a rock might be escaped, if we would let our Father take the helm; many a shoal or quicksand we might well avoid, if we would leave to His sovereign will to choose and to command. The Puritan said, 'As sure as ever a Christian carves for himself, he'll cut his own fingers;' this is a great truth. Said another old divine, 'He that goes before the cloud of God's providence goes on a fool's errand;' and so he does. We must mark God's providence leading us; and if providence tarries, tarry till providence comes.
He who goes before providence, will be very glad to run back again. 'I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go,' is God's promise to His people. Let us, then, take all our perplexities to Him, and say, 'Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?' Leave not thy chamber this morning without enquiring of the Lord.

LastCall: Now he is comforted. -Daily Light Morning
Daily Light Morning
Now he is comforted.Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. –
He will swallow up death in victory; and the LORD God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth. –
These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters.
- God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.LUKE 16:25. Isa. 60:20. Isa. 25:8. Rev. 7:14-17. -Rev. 21:4.

LastCall: Are You Exhausted Spiritually? -My Utmost for His Highest
Are You Exhausted Spiritually?
The everlasting God . . . neither faints nor is weary —Isaiah 40:28
Exhaustion means that our vital energies are completely worn out and spent. Spiritual exhaustion is never the result of sin, but of service. Whether or not you experience exhaustion will depend on where you get your supplies. Jesus said to Peter, "Feed My sheep," but He gave him nothing with which to feed them ( John 21:17 ).
The process of being made broken bread and poured-out wine means that youhave to be the nourishment for other people’s souls until they learn to feed on God. They must drain you completely— to the very last drop. But be careful to replenish your supply, or you will quickly be utterly exhausted. Until others learn to draw on the life of the Lord Jesus directly, they will have to draw on His life through you.
You must literally be their source of supply, until they learn to take their nourishment from God. We owe it to God to be our best for His lambs and sheep, as well as for Him.
Have you delivered yourself over to exhaustion because of the way you have been serving God? If so, then renew and rekindle your desires and affections.
Examine your reasons for service.
Is your source based on your own understanding or is it grounded on the redemption of Jesus Christ? Continually look back to the foundation of your love and affection and remember where your Source of power lies. You have no right to complain, "O Lord, I am so exhausted." He saved and sanctified you to exhaust you. Be exhausted for God, but remember that He is your supply. "All my springs are in you" ( Psalm 87:7 ).

LastCall: "Blessed is the man" -Streams in the Desert
"Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee who passing through the valley of weeping, make it a well" (Ps. 84:5, 6).
Comfort does not come to the light-hearted and merry. We must go down into "depths" if we would experience this most precious of God's gifts--comfort, and thus be prepared to be co-workers together with Him.
When night--needful night--gathers over the garden of our souls, when the leaves close up, and the flowers no longer hold any sunlight within their folded petals, there shall never be wanting, even in the thickest darkness, drops of heavenly dew--dew which falls only when the sun has gone.
"I have been through the valley of weeping,
The valley of sorrow and pain;
But the 'God of all comfort' was with me,
At hand to uphold and sustain.
"As the earth needs the clouds and sunshine,
Our souls need both sorrow and joy;
So He places us oft in the furnace,
The dross from the gold to destroy.
"When he leads thro' some valley of trouble
His omnipotent hand we trace;
For the trials and sorrows He sends us,
Are part of His lessons in grace.
"Oft we shrink from the purging and pruning,
Forgetting the Husbandman knows
That the deeper the cutting and paring,
The richer the cluster that grows.
"Well He knows that affliction is needed;
He has a wise purpose in view,
And in the dark valley He whispers,
'Hereafter Thou'lt know what I do.'
"As we travel thro' life's shadow'd valley,
Fresh springs of His love ever rise;
And we learn that our sorrows and losses,
Are blessings just sent in disguise.
"So we'll follow wherever He leadeth,
Let the path be dreary or bright;
For we've proved that our God can give comfort;
Our God can give songs in the night."

Women Beyond The Cave -Melody Green
Women Beyond The Cave
by Melody Green
I can't shake it. In my spirit I keep hearing God say,
"Women arise! Women arise! With open hands lifted up to heaven. With lips ready to give praise and speak truth. With hearts soft and open, ready to receive My message. It's time to receive your spiritual inheritance. To receive your personal marching orders for this important hour."
As women we should be very encouraged. We may be soft on the outside, but we're strong and mighty in spirit. We are God's secret weapons and the enemy knows it. He takes us seriously, even when others don't. The enemy's strategy has been to keep us quiet and in hiding. But God is doing an end run. He is going to release so many of us at once that the enemy is not going to know what hit him! I believe in this hour the Lord is saying to His women:
"Now is the moment when I Myself am coming to release you. Too many of my people have turned a deaf ear to you. Only those who understand the big picture and full spectrum of My heart can hear the words, Women Arise! I am going to lay such an incredible anointing on women who are willing to step out. I am tired of fighting the war with only half of My army. Where are My women? Where are the ones I called to teach, to preach... To blaze those trails even the bravest of men shudder to go. Where are my women? Where are they? Have they not heard My call?"
After hearing this from the Lord, in my minds eye I saw a cave. I looked closer and many women were in it, too many. And they were afraid to come out. Some felt the cave was a safe place to stay—that only men were equipped to venture out and fight the battles beyond. Some felt content to stay, because the cave was indeed, their place of service. But many felt restless, unsettled Many felt called out but some of them had been told those feelings were wrong—so they stifled them… Stuffed them down. Poured guilt upon themselves. But for some, those feelings could not be ignored And this was right... because for some Their call could only be fulfilled beyond the cave. Lets take a quick look at just of a few of the better known women who ventured out beyond the cave. Think of Deborah. She was a prophetess and a judge. She was a married woman who had a day job outside her home. Deborah judged a nation. I don't know what kind of job her husband had, but the nation came to his wife for rulings. Deborah carried a governmental mantle and we could safely assume she also had the gift of wisdom and discernment. She was trusted to disperse wisdom for the whole nation. When she called for the army commander, Barak, and told him it was time to go to war, Barak wouldn't go to battle unless Deborah went with him. Everyone knew that Deborah heard from God. Then there was Esther. She was an orphan being raised by her uncle. When her story began she was much younger than Deborah... and still single. But she knew how to hear from God. She was abducted with many other beautiful young girls—and taken to the castle of a heathen King who was having a contest for a new wife. Even there, the Lord spoke to Esther. God told her to listen to her uncle and take the advice of the man in charge of the girls. Esther hid the fact that she was Jewish, and God gave her a strategy to become the queen. But that was only the beginning, she also won the Kings heart. But little did Esther know all the Lord had in mind. When the whole Jewish nation was in line for extermination Esther fasted and prayed and God gave her intricate, day by day, wisdom with split second timing. I believe God gave her wisdom as she went, and that she moved very prophetically—giving time for the King to have a sleepless night and time for Haman's gallows to be built. Only God could have orchestrated such an incredible deliverance for the Jewish nation, and such a fascinating turn of events to judge the bad guys. But it was a young Jewish orphan girl who listened, heard, and followed God's plan. We should be encouraged. If these women can lead prophetically, judge nations, and save whole people groups—why can't God can use us too? Esther and Deborah were on the front lines. One of the things I really like about their stories is the incredible teamwork that happened between them and the men God put in their lives. Mordecai was behind the scenes praying and sharing wisdom to Esther. And I would imagine Deborah's husband [along with the whole nation] prayed when she and Barak went off to war. Many years later Jesus rose to prominence—and a young girl named Mary poured ointment His feet. Her act of worship was despised by the men around her. They thought it was wasteful. But Jesus pointed to her extravagant adoration as an example every believer should follow. The example of a simple, worshipping woman. And still many years after that, Joan of Arc, a young girl from a poor village in France began to hear God speaking to her. Her faith and her visions took her before her government, with a strategy and a plan. Joan of Arc became the only teenager in all of history ever to lead the army of a nation. She was betrayed and became a martyr—and she is still an inspiration to people around the world today. Hundreds of years later, four teenaged girls were sent to America from England on a mission. The Salvation Army was flourishing in England, but was unknown in America. Within months these teenagers started a movement in America that is still going strong today. Most people don't realize that it was teenage girls that launched the Salvation Army in America.Then there was that young Albanian woman who went to India as a schoolteacher. While she was there she felt a call from God to help the poorest of the poor. She walked out into the streets of India without any money in her pocket and simply began to pick up the dying from the gutters and take care of them. She lived in poverty and did menial tasks even when her name became known worldwide as the byword for the embodiment of Christian love and compassion. She was Mother Teresa. And she did all of her kindness in the name of Jesus, and as a pauper and a servant, she received the Nobel Peace Prize. Jackie Pullinger left the UK on a freighter, believing God would tell her when to get off. When the ship docked in Hong Kong she disembarked. Knowing no one, she wandered into the "walled city" filled with heroin addicts, prostitutes, and violent gangs. It was so terrible in there that the police wouldn't even go in. But God found a young English girl who was willing to go and show the love of Jesus to these forgotten ones. Jackie, on her own, quietly and sacrificially won the trust of the worst of the worst. She learned God's secrets about the poor, she learned Chinese, and she learned the keys to praying people off of heroin addiction. Jackie is still in Hong Kong today, and because of her continued sacrifice there is a flourishing Chinese church filled with ex-addicts and countless people with new lives. Today the mission field is filled women who are leading churches and pioneering works in remote tribes and villages. They are teaching, training, and raising up native pastors so God's work can grow. There are also women serving God in the suburbs and the inner cities—in the pulpit, on their knees, and in the streets. Some are prominent Bible teachers and others are serving in relative obscurity. I've told just a few very brief stories. I obviously didn't do justice in telling the stories of the women I spoke about, but their lives in greater detail, along with many others will be profiled in this site. And so will the encouraging words of many many men who support and encourage the release of women into ministry. Have you been encouraged? Maybe it's time for you to venture out of the safety of your cave and see how God wants to use you. There's always room for one more out there.

LastCall: Today, don't squander God's blessings -Mike MacIntosh
For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
Matthew 25:29
On March 26, 1994, Ronald Opus jumped from the top of a ten-story building, intending to commit suicide. He died that day, but not from the ten-story leap. As he fell past the 9th floor, his life was interrupted by a shotgun blast passing through a window, which killed him instantly.
Neither the shooter nor the deceased was aware that a safety net had been installed just below the 8th floor to protect building workers. Were it not for the gunshot, Mr. Opus would have lived.
Here's what happened. An elderly man and his wife, who had been arguing vigorously, occupied the 9th-floor room where the shotgun blast emanated. The man had been threatening his wife with the gun, and became so upset that he pulled the trigger and missed his wife completely. The pellets went through the window, striking Mr. Opus.
Bizarrely, the elderly man told authorities that it was a long-standing habit of his to threaten his wife with an unloaded shotgun, but that he never had any intent to kill her. Someone else, he insisted, had loaded the gun.
And sure enough, a witness confirmed that the couples' son had done so. An investigation found that the old lady had cut off her son's financial support, and that the son had loaded the gun, knowing his father's propensity to threaten her with it. He wanted his mother dead. But it doesn't end there.
Authorities determined that the son would be guilty of murder, even though he had not actually pulled the trigger.
After all, the blood of Ronald Opus was on his hands. But as the investigation continued, authorities were shocked to find that the son was, in fact, Ronald Opus. He had become despondent over his failure to engineer his mother's murder, and had jumped off the ten-story building, only to be killed by the shotgun blast passing through the 9th-story window.
Ronald Opus had actually murdered himself.
Unbelievable. When I heard that story, I thought, "What a waste!" Here was a man who valued life so little -- his mother's life, his father's life, and his own life -- that he actively pursued death. He tried to kill not only his mother, but himself.
He had been given the greatest resources available -- life, family, health -- and in squandering his family's lives, lost his own. He held such little value in that which he had been given that he murdered the last resource that ultimately mattered to him: himself.
You know, the way we treat our resources says a lot about what we value. We don't squander that which we hold dear. We don't let go to waste that which holds potential. Jesus tells the parable in Matthew 25 of a master who gives his three servants a measure of money. The first two servants invest the money, and make the master a profit.
But the third servant does nothing with it. And without notice, the master takes the money from the third servant, giving it to the servant who had more. Why? Because the third servant didn't value the little he'd been given. Sure, he says he did, but he sat on it. Maybe he didn't realize its potential to grow. Maybe he didn't care, or was afraid. Whatever the case, the master took the money away. You see, if we truly value the resources God has given us, we will use them. If we hold dear our life, our family, our health -- we will do everything we can not only to preserve them, but to invest in them.
No doubt, God has given us amazing resources. Do you realize the value of your breath? Of your family? Of God's Word? Of His power to work in and through you?
Today, don't squander God's blessings.
Don't sit on the gifts he's given you. Actively invest in them, grow them, and realize their potential. May we become people who appreciate and use the awesome resources God has given us!

LastCall: Humility and Faith -Bob Hoekstra
Reflecting on Grace: Humility and Faith
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich…strong>Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God…"If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." (2 Corinthians 8:9; 3:5 and Luke 9:23)
Let's take a reflective look at humility and faith. We have repeatedly encountered these two relational realities. This is to be expected, since "God…gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6), and "we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand" (Romans 5:2).
In our first devotional study, humility and faith were evident. "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich." In order for Jesus to rescue us from our desperate situation, He had to become poor. When He hung on the cross for us, He took the spiritual poverty of our sin and guilt upon Himself. What a humbling picture of our inborn spiritual condition. Basically, we had to agree with the Lord, humbling ourselves before Him, asking for His help. Additionally, faith was involved. We had to believe that through His death, we could become spiritually rich, that is, forgiven of sin and righteous in His sight.
Humility and faith were later seen as vital for walking in this new life in Christ. "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God." The sufficiency we need for Christian living does not originate in us. Actually, we must not think of "anything as being from ourselves." How humbling to learn, even as born-again believers, that we need the Lord in everything. Then, how do we find the necessary resources? This is where faith applies. "Our sufficiency is from God." This is truth that we are to believe.
When we examined Christian discipleship, humility and faith again appeared. "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me" (Luke 9:23). Jesus' call to come and follow Him can only be received by those who will say, "No to self" and "Death to self." This is humiliating to the self-life, to think it is not good enough, to admit that it belongs on the cross. This is especially humbling when we see that these are to be our daily confessions. The rest of the discipleship issue is settled by faith, trusting in Jesus each step of every day.
Dear Heavenly Father, give me this perspective on the Christian life. Teach me, Lord, touch my heart, that I might be willing to walk humbly before You day by day. Build my faith, Lord, that I might depend upon You step by step throughout each day!

40 Days: Day Nineteen -Rick Warren
Cultivating Community
You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor. James 3:18 (Msg)
They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers. Acts 2:42 (Msg)
Community requires commitment.
Only the Holy Spirit can create real fellowship between believers, but he cultivates it with the choices and commitments we make. Paul points out this dual responsibility when he says, "You are joined together with peace through the Spirit, so make every effort to continue together in this way.' I It takes both God's power and our effort to produce a loving Christian community.
Unfortunately, many people grow up in families with unhealthy relationships, so they lack the relational skills needed for real fellowship. They must be taught how to get along with and relate to others in God's family. Fortunately, the New Testament is filled with instruction on how to share life together. Paul wrote, "I am writing these things to you ... [so] you will know how to live in the family of God. That family is the church."
If you're tired of fake fellowship and you would like to cultivate real fellowship and a loving community in your small group, Sunday school class, and church, you'll need to make some tough choices and take some risks.
Cultivating community takes honesty. You will have to care enough to lovingly speak the truth, even when you would rather gloss over a problem or ignore an issue. While it is much easier to remain silent when others around us are harming themselves or others with a sinful pattern, it is not the loving thing to do. Most people have no one in their lives who loves them enough to tell them the truth (even when it's painful), so they continue in self-destructive ways.
Often we know what needs to be said to someone, but our fears prevent us from saying anything.
Many fellowships have been sabotaged by fear: No one had the courage to speak up in the group while a member's life fell apart.
The Bible tells us to "speak the truth in love" because we can't have community without candor. Solomon said, "An honest answer is a sign of true friendship." Sometimes this means caring enough to lovingly confront one who is sinning or is being tempted to sin. Paul says, "Brothers and sisters, if someone in your group does something wrong, you who are spiritual should go to that person and gently help make him right again."
Many church fellowships and small groups remain superficial because they are afraid of conflict. Whenever an issue pops up that might cause tension or discomfort, it is immediately glossed over in order to preserve a false sense of peace. Mr. "Don't Rock the Boat" jumps in and tries to smooth everyone's ruffled feathers, the issue is never resolved, and everyone lives with an underlying frustration. Everyone knows about the problem, but no one talks about it openly. This creates a sick environment of secrets where gossip thrives. Paul's solution was straightforward: "No more lies, no more pretense. Tell your neighbor the truth. In Christ's body we're all connected to each other, after all. When you lie to others, you end up lying to yourself."
Real fellowship, whether in a marriage, a friendship, or your church, depends on frankness. In fact, the tunnel of conflict is the passageway to intimacy in any relationship. Until you care enough to confront and resolve the underlying barriers, you will never grow close to each other. When conflict is handled correctly, we grow closer to each other by facing and resolving our differences. The Bible says, "In the end, people appreciate frankness more than flattery. "'
Frankness is not a license to say anything you want, wherever and whenever you want. It is not rudeness. The Bible tells us there is a right time and a right way to do everything." Thoughtless words leave lasting wounds. God tells us to speak to each other in the church as loving family members: "Never use harsh words when you correct an older man, but talk to him as if he were your father. Talk to younger men as if they were your brothers, older women as if they were your mothers, and younger women as if they were your sisters."
Sadly, thousands of fellowships have been destroyed by a lack of honesty. Paul had to rebuke the Corinthian church for their passive code of silence in allowing immorality in their fellowship. Since no one had the courage to confront it, he said, "You must not simply look the other way and hope it goes away on its own. Bring it out in the open and deal with it.... Better devastation and embarrassment than damnation.... You pass it off as a small thing, but it's anything but that... you shouldn't act as if everything is just fine when one of your Christian companions is promiscuous or crooked, is flip with God or rude to friends, gets drunk or becomes greedy and predatory. You can't just go along with this, treating it as acceptable behavior. I'm not responsible for what the outsiders do, but don't we have some responsibility for those within our community of believers?"
When conflict is handled correctly, we grow closer to each other.
Cultivating community takes humility. Self-importance, smugness, and stubborn pride destroy fellowship faster than anything else. Pride builds walls between people; humility builds bridges. Humility is the oil that smoothes and soothes relationships. That's why the Bible says, "Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another."11 The proper dress for fellowship is a humble attitude.
The rest of that verse says, "... because, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." This is the other reason we need to be humble: Pride blocks God's grace in our lives, which we must have in order to grow, change, heal, and help others. We receive God's grace by humbly admitting that we need it. The Bible says anytime we are prideful, we are living in opposition to God! That is a foolish and dangerous way to live.
You can develop humility in very practical ways: by admitting your weaknesses, by being patient with others' weaknesses, by being open to correction, and by pointing the spotlight on others. Paul advised, "Live in harmony with each other. Don't try to act important, but enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all!"' To the Christians in Philippi he wrote, "Give more honor to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.”
Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less. Humility is thinking more of others. Humble people are so focused on serving others, they don't think of themselves.
Humility is not thinking less of yourself it is thinking of yourself less.
Cultivating community takes courtesy. Courtesy is respecting our differences, being considerate of each other's feelings, and being patient with people who irritate us. The Bible says, 'We must bear the `burden' of being considerate of the doubts and fears of others." Paul told Titus, "God's people should be bighearted and courteous.” In every church and in every small group, there is always at least one "difficult" person, usually more than one. These people may have special emotional needs, deep insecurities, irritating mannerisms, or poor social skills. You might call them EGR people-"Extra Grace Required."
God put these people in our midst for both their benefit and ours. They are an opportunity for growth and a test of fellowship: Will we love them as brothers and sisters and treat them with dignity?
In a family, acceptance isn't based on how smart or beautiful or talented you are. It's based on the fact that we belong to each other. We defend and protect family. A family member may be a little goofy, but she's one of us. In the same way, the Bible says, `Be devoted to each other like a loving family. Excel in showing respect for each other."
The truth is, we all have quirks and annoying traits. But community has nothing to do with compatibility. The basis for our fellowship is our relationship to God: We're family.
One key to courtesy is to understand where people are coming from. Discover their history. When you know what they've been through, you will be more understanding. Instead of thinking about how far they still have to go, think about how far they have come in spite of their hurts.
Another part of courtesy is not downplaying other people's doubts. Just because you don't fear something doesn't make it an invalid feeling. Real community happens when people know it is safe enough to share their doubts and fears without being judged.
The fellowship of the church is more important than any individual.
Cultivating community takes confidentiality. Only in the safe environment of warm acceptance and trusted confidentiality will people open up and share their deepest hurts, needs, and mistakes. Confidentiality does not mean keeping silent while your brother or sister sins. It means that what is shared in your group needs to stay in your group, and the group needs to deal with it, not gossip to others about it.
God hates gossip, especially when it is thinly disguised as a "prayer request" for someone else. God says, "Gossip is spread by wicked people; they stir up trouble and break up friendships." Gossip always causes hurt and divisions, and it destroys fellowship, and God is very clear that we are to confront those who cause division among Christians. They may get mad and leave your group or church if you confront them about their divisive actions, but the fellowship of the church is more important than any individual.
Cultivating community takes frequency. You must have frequent, regular contact with your group in order to build genuine fellowship. Relationships take time. The Bible tells us, "Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another:" We are to develop the habit of meeting together. A habit is something you do with frequency, not occasionally. You have to spend time with people-a lot of time-to build deep relationships. This is why fellowship is so shallow in many churches; we don't spend enough time together, and the time we do spend is usually listening to one person speak.
Community is built not on convenience ("we'll get together when I feel like it") but on the conviction that I need it for spiritual health. If you want to cultivate real fellowship, it will mean meeting together even when you don't feel like it, because you believe it is important. The first Christians met together every day! "They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness." Fellowship requires an investment of time.
If you are a member of a small group or class, I urge you to make a group covenant that includes the nine characteristics of biblical fellowship: We will share our true feelings (authenticity), encourage each other (mutuality), support each other (sympathy), forgive each other (mercy), speak the truth in love (honesty), admit our weaknesses (humility), respect our differences, (courtesy), not gossip (confidentiality), and make group a priority (frequency).
When you look at the list of characteristics, it is obvious why genuine fellowship is so rare. It means giving up our selfcenteredness and independence in order to become interdependent. But the benefits of sharing life together far outweigh the costs, and it prepares us for heaven.
DAY NINETEEN THINKING ABOUT MY PURPOSE
Point to Ponder: Community requires commitment.
Verse to Remember: "We understand what love is when we realize that Christ gave his life for us. That means we must give our lives for other believers." 1 John 3:16 (GWT)
Question to Consider: How can I help cultivate today the characteristics of real community in my small group and my church?

LastCall: the living stone we're sitting next to or married to -Jon Courson
And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.Genesis 11:1–3 Man builds with brick. But because brick is man-made, it cracks and chips easily. That’s why God uses stone. The massive stones used for the temple were cut to size in a rock quarry a mile away from the temple site so that when the stones arrived at the building site, the Bible says the sound of neither hammer nor chisel was heard (1 Kings 6:7). How close did the stones fit? So close that not even a knife could fit between them. There was no need for cement or mortar, for the stones fit perfectly. God still uses stones to build His temple. We are living stones being fit together for a spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5). This means the world is the rock quarry wherein the chipping takes place so that when we get to the true temple in heaven, there will not be the sound of a hammer or chisel heard. Therefore, we should not be surprised when the living stone we’re sitting next to or married to rubs us the wrong way. It’s all part of God’s plan to knock off our rough edges so that when we get to heaven, we’ll fit together perfectly.

LastCall: I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep -Bob Coy
KNOWABILITY
"I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. John 10:14 (NKJV)
There's a big difference between "knowing of" someone and "knowing" someone. You know of the President and the latest A-list celebrities and athletes. But chances are, you don't really know any of these people. It's a one-sided and one-way relationship. You might invite them into your life, but they aren't allowing you into theirs...and they probably never will.
When it comes to the people you really know, it's the people in your life who are knowable-your spouse, your children, and your friends. It's those who allow and invite you into their lives. You experience a two-way relationship with these people. Now carry that idea over to God. He isn't just someone we can know of but someone we can actually know. He makes Himself open and accessible to us. He invites and allows us into a personal, two-way relationship with Him.
Think about it for a moment. The almighty Creator of the universe, the One who keeps the galaxies and constellations from colliding into each other, the One who keeps every single atom from flying apart, wants to be known-and wants to be known by us! And as if that weren't enough, He sent His own Beloved Son to suffer and die so that we could know Him (John 17:3).
There are two types of people: those who know of God and those who know God. May we be those who not only know Him for ourselves, but also who make Him known to others.
Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches...let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me.... (Jeremiah 9:23-24 NKJV)
What does this passage reveal to me about God?
What does this passage reveal to me about myself?
Based on this, what changes do I need to make?
What is my prayer for today?

LastCall: It will be measured to you. -Joyce Meyer
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
— Luke 6:39 NIV Do you know what Romans 12:1 means when it says that we are to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice? It means that we are to be alive with the power, zeal, and enthusiasm that any born-again person ought to have. It means we are to be excited about Jesus. We are to offer our mouths, our thoughts, our words, our attitudes, our bodies, our hands, and our feet to Him to use to continue His ministry. This may mean that we do not get everything we want in life, but anything we give up for the sake of the gospel, Jesus has said we will receive back a hundred times in this lifetime (See Mark 10:29–30). Enjoy God’s blessings now. Offer yourself for service and watch the blessings return.

LastCall: 'O LORD God of my master Abraham -Bob Caldwell
Prayer that Seeks Blessing for Others
This prayer of Abraham's servant is a picture of a gracious man who serves a gracious God. Abraham, who is getting old, realizes he must begin to make plans for the future of his son whom God had given him through miraculous divine intervention and from whom a descendent would arise to become a blessing to the entire world. Being too old to take this journey back to Mesopotamia, Abraham sends his servant. We see in this servant's simple prayer a selfless and gracious heart toward Abraham. He looks for nothing for himself. This servant shared in the selfless ministry of intercessory prayer. This type of selfless prayer is close to the heart of God, rooted in His own selfless agape love. We also see that this servant had complete confidence in God's kindness and grace to answer his prayer. He asked God to give him a sign, one that would prove that God was leading him to the woman who was chosen by God for Abraham's son. What a privilege to know that when we bring the needs of others before such a gracious God, we can fully expect an answer.

Genesis 23:17-24:14
19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan. 20 So the field and the cave that is in it were deeded to Abraham by the sons of Heth as property for a burial place. Genesis 24 A Bride for Isaac 1 Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things. 2 So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, "Please, put your hand under my thigh, 3 and I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell; 4 but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac." 5 And the servant said to him, "Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land. Must I take your son back to the land from which you came?"
| |||
6 But Abraham said to him, "Beware that you do not take my son back there. 7 The LORD God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my family, and who spoke to me and swore to me, saying, 'To your descendants I give this land,' He will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there. 8 And if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be released from this oath; only do not take my son back there." 9 So the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter. 10 Then the servant took ten of his master's camels and departed, for all his master's goods were in his hand. And he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor. 11 And he made his camels kneel down outside the city by a well of water at evening time, the time when women go out to draw water. 12 Then he said, "O LORD God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham. 13 Behold, here I stand by the well of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. 14 Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, 'Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,' and she says, 'Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink'—let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master."

One Thousand Years: Genesage "Manna" (Chp3:4)
One Thousand Years
Genesage
"
“Manna”
(Chp3:2)
Judgment had indeed come upon the Earth.
The earth no longer was fit for man or beast. Creation was no more the “good” God had created it to be. Man had forfeited his care for what God gave him. Satan was in charge. When it was almost beyond measure, God looked down and saw it was not good. Creation was devastated. God plan looked defeated.
What Satan had done in evil, God turned to good.
He Sent His Son to Save the World.
Creation rejoiced.
The first meals eaten in the Kingdom of God were Manna.
The Kingdom had come. Since Man was helpless be became their helpmeet. God sent by His Spirit and His Angels: “Manna.”
God provided them with bread from heaven.
The “Bread of Life” had come down from heaven to earth.
Man would not live by bread he alone had made; but by the very bread God gave in the Wilderness so very long ago, God declared He was their sustenance.
He was the Lord God Provider.
What had once been a phenomenon strictly for the children of Israel now was provided for the children of men. Since the first day the Son of God returned to Earth to rule and reign from Jerusalem, he had cared for the needs of the people. He started with sustenance, manna.
Practical Reality met Personal God.
When Jesus had returned as King, He saved those in Megiddo as well as the remaining Survivors of the World. Man was helpless and destitute; God was the Hope and resolute; he immediately gave bread from the earth. The mass of humanity had been “rounded up” and brought like sheep to the central sheepfold in Jerusalem.
There God fed the masses.
Being provided for in that crowded mass of humanity; a discussion had broken out about the "bread" they were given. It was common with man since ancient times that in eating, he felt better. A way to a man’s heart was through his appetites.
As people ate, recovering somewhat they began to think. As they thought, they discussed. Talking over a meal what was on his mind was an old tradition. This first day of the Kingdom after Megiddo was no different. Fed, man began to talk: The topic was food, the item, manna.
Some of the Polynesian ancestry survivors had seen manna and claimed it was the "spiritual" essence formulated into a physical presence which as such the ancient ones from their culture said there was power in the "food". This inspired those who agreed with them to eat voraciously. They wanted power and “old ways” were hard to forget.
They consumed what they were given applying their own interpretation to what it was.
Others stated it was the manna that was needed to make “ambrosia and to live forever.” They ate with appreciation thinking to themselves that their very lives were at stake. They wanted to live forever or at least as long as they could so in interpretation or superstition, they too ate as though their life depended on it.
A few piped in that cacao was the food of the gods.
To become like Gods they must eat cacao but this “manna” would do for now. Certain to not be excluded they consumed their portion enjoying the food God had given them. No one assumed they became like “gods” but it was rumored they were always watching out for cacao none the less.
None there at the time agreed on any one definition of what they ate.
Everyone had previously known about manna as the story of children in the desert eating “manna’ was universally known. Everyone had heard of the “miracle” but most had played the marginalize card and had invented their own version naturally of what God had provided supernaturally.
Of course from God and his perspective, anything supernatural was natural.
It was only Mankind that had a problem with it. He always trying to define it rather than resign to the fact that God did it. Somehow He wanted to always “create” and excuse or reason why or what God did.
It was a hard thing for man to realize that God was God and man was not.
At the time of the first meal in the Kingdom of God, they all did eat it with gladness.
Some even thanked God even giving a blessing, while others simply ate according to the understanding they had at the time. Suppressed chaos of thousands of refugees was obvious.
They were still in after shock of Megiddo and P.T.T.S.D.’s had not set in yet.

Parting the Red Sea
Exodus 14:5-15:18; Psalm 19:7-10; Proverbs 6:27-29
Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people; and they said, "Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?" So he made ready his chariot and took his people with him. Also, he took six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them. And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; and the children of Israel went out with boldness. So the Egyptians pursued them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army, and overtook them camping by the sea beside Pi Hahiroth, before Baal Zephon.
And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD. Then they said to Moses, "Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, 'Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians'? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness."
And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."
And the LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. And I indeed will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them. So I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen. Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen."
And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided. So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the LORD looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians."
Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen." And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained. But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
So the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Thus Israel saw the great work which the LORD had done in Egypt; so the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD and His servant Moses.
Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying:
"I will sing to the LORD,
For He has triumphed gloriously!
The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea!
The LORD is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation;
He is my God, and I will praise Him;
My father's God, and I will exalt Him.
The LORD is a man of war;
The LORD is His name.
Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea;
His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea.
The depths have covered them;
They sank to the bottom like a stone.
"Your right hand, O LORD, has become glorious in power;
Your right hand, O LORD, has dashed the enemy in pieces.
And in the greatness of Your excellence
You have overthrown those who rose against You;
You sent forth Your wrath;
It consumed them like stubble.
And with the blast of Your nostrils
The waters were gathered together;
The floods stood upright like a heap;
The depths congealed in the heart of the sea.
The enemy said, 'I will pursue,
I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil;
My desire shall be satisfied on them.
I will draw my sword,
My hand shall destroy them.'
You blew with Your wind,
The sea covered them;
They sank like lead in the mighty waters.
"Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness,
Fearful in praises, doing wonders?
You stretched out Your right hand;
The earth swallowed them.
You in Your mercy have led forth
The people whom You have redeemed;
You have guided them in Your strength
To Your holy habitation.
"The people will hear and be afraid;
Sorrow will take hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.
Then the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed;
The mighty men of Moab,
Trembling will take hold of them;
All the inhabitants of Canaan will melt away.
Fear and dread will fall on them;
By the greatness of Your arm
They will be as still as a stone,
Till Your people pass over, O LORD,
Till the people pass over
Whom You have purchased.
You will bring them in and plant them
In the mountain of Your inheritance,
In the place, O LORD, which You have made
For Your own dwelling,
The sanctuary, O LORD, which Your hands have established.
"The LORD shall reign forever and ever."
Exodus 14:5-15:18
WORSHIP
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalm 19:7-10
WISDOM
Can a man take fire to his bosom,
And his clothes not be burned?
Can one walk on hot coals,
And his feet not be seared?
So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife;
Whoever touches her shall not be innocent.
Proverbs 6:27-29

LastCall: Jesus came to cleanse; not condemn -Daily Hope
Jesus came to cleanse; not condemn |
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. John 3:17-18 (NIV) Jesus came to do whatever was necessary to cleanse us of our sins so that we could come home to the Father. Again and again, we see Jesus in the New Testament willing to use his power to heal; we see him willing to use his authority to cleanse. If, while Earth-bound, Jesus showed compassion for people in need, why would he be any different today? The difference is not with him; it is with the lie within us that whispers God sent his son into the world to condemn it, not to save -- a contradiction of God's Word, which says, "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned ...." (John 3:17 NIV) Can you hear the hiss of the serpent saying the yoke of Jesus is heavy and hard, and so we must hide from the Truth? A man with a dreaded disease once came to Jesus and said, "Sir, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus reached out and touched the man, saying, "I do want to. Be clean!" At once the man was healed of his disease. (based on Matthew 8:2-3 TEV) Today, Jesus still says, "I do want to!" He wants us to be with him in his kingdom. (John 17:24) His whole mission was to "rescue us from the present evil age." (Galatians 1:4 NIV) |

LastCall: The children of Israel accepted Joshua -Raul Ries
Wisdom of Age
Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Deuteronomy 34:9
The children of Israel accepted Joshua the son of Nun as their leader, not only because he was full of the spirit of wisdom, but because Moses, their godly leader, had laid his hands on him.
Moses had not laid hands on Joshua suddenly, but because Joshua had proven himself over time. He did not look out at the people and pick Joshua at random. Joshua had been a faithful servant of the Lord. Remember, he was one of the two people who gave a good report after spying out the Promised Land. Not only that, but he was a man of faith—trusting God to deliver them from the giants in the land.
The one thing about being old is I realize how much I do not know. When I was young, I thought I knew everything, but I was stupid. I remember my father-in-law. He had so much wisdom, but I was young and stupid.
Look at Solomon’s son. When he chose the guidance of the young men over the wisdom of the elders, there was chaos. The people wanted to kill him. You see, the old have the wisdom. They have been around a long time, and they have seen many things.
As leaders, we need to receive wisdom from those who have been around longer than us. We also need to be careful when raising people up. There needs to be evidence of God’s spirit of wisdom in their lives.
Seek the wisdom of the ages, but look at the world
through the eyes of a child.

Old Testament - Today in Exodus chapter 29 we read about the dedication of Aaron and his sons as priests!
Verse 37 stood out to me in this chapter: "After that, the altar will be exceedingly holy, and whatever touches it will become holy." It's interesting to consider the verses prior to this - with the 7 days of sacrifices of young bulls. For some reason this verse reminded me of Jesus and how people could simply touch the tassels of his robes and they would be healed. I think it's fair to say that Jesus was much more holy than this altar was - and Jesus did not require purification rituals or sacrificing of bulls to make Jesus holy, as this altar did. Jesus "embodied" holiness! (and we'll get to the power of Jesus' body in today's Matthew readings...) Below is an image of the altar of burnt offering in use:
In Chapter 30 we read about the incense altar:
I read a commentary that said the incense from this altar represented prayers to God from his people. We can see this similarity in Revelation chapter 8 verses 3 & 4: "Then another angel with a gold incense burner came and stood at the altar. And a great quantity of incense was given to him to mix with the prayers of God's people, to be offered on the gold altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, mixed with the prayers of the saints, ascended up to God from the altar where the angel had poured them out." It is wonderful imagery to realize that our prayers to God are like fragrant incense!
New Testament - Today in Matthew 26 verse 14 we read: "Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests and asked, "How much will you pay me to betray Jesus to you?" And they gave him thirty pieces of silver." The NIV Study Bible says that 30 pieces of silver was equivalent to about 120 denarii. Laborers at that time typically received 1 denarius for 1 day's work. So, Judas was basically paid about 4 months worth of work for the betrayal of Jesus. Sad... Bible.org has a powerful essay on "The Biography of the Betrayer" at this link. Below is a fresco from the early 14th century by the Italian Renaissance Florentine painter Giotto titled "Pact of Judas." In this fresco the two priests on the right discuss Judas's treachery, while the third plots with Judas, who is in the clutches of the devil...
Verses 26 through 28 today certainly will remind us of why Communion / the Lord's Supper is so important to us as believers in Jesus. This all took place the night before Jesus was crucified. The bread represents Jesus' body, given for us. The wine represents Jesus' blood, poured-out for many through Jesus' atoning death.
Verse 35 always stands out to me whenever I read it: "No!" Peter insisted. "Not even if I have to die with you! I will never deny you!" And all the other disciples vowed the same." I guess what jumps out at me in this verse is the question - are we really any different from Peter? Would we proclaim that we would not deny Jesus if you asked us straight up? Yes I think we would proclaim that. But then... I get to thinking. About how we live our life sometimes. About the decisions we make. About maybe even the bad habits we foreswore off when we were a new Christian. And yet... do we still find ourselves going back to those bad habits - back to those sins? And, if we are doing this conscientiously - are we in a way denying Jesus when we knowingly sin now? Are we at times denying Jesus as our Lord by our actions? At times, are we really that different from Peter?
The Garden of Gethsemane... verses 38 & 39 are heartbreaking: "Jesus told them, "My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and watch with me." Jesus went on a little farther and fell face down on the ground, praying, "My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine."" Zondervan's commentary on these 2 verses really seemed to shake me up a bit about what Jesus did for us - and how we was not a typical martyr - "Jesus did not die serenely as many martyrs have. He was no mere martyr - he was the Lamb of God bearing the penalty of the sins of the entire human race. The wrath of God was turned loose on him. Only this can adequately explain what took place at Gethsemane." The atonement was coming the next day. And Jesus knew it. And he prayed for God's will above all else. And God's will was done. And those who believe in Jesus as the Son of God must be so thankful for Jesus' fervent face down prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane... Through Jesus' atoning death, we are saved from our sins. We are saved from God's wrath. I think it's really worth reflecting upon - Jesus took God's wrath in our place. Think this qualifies Jesus as Savior? Below is Italian painter Sebastiano Conca's beautiful "Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane" from the year 1746:
Psalms - This is a wonderful look at God's goodness in Psalm 31 verse 19: "Your goodness is so great! You have stored up great blessings for those who honor you. You have done so much for those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world." Do you believe that God's goodness is indeed great? Are you honoring God with your life and your actions and your thoughts each day? Do you believe that God is storing up blessings for you? Do you believe that God will bless you if you go to him for protection?
Proverbs - Proverbs chapter 8 verse 22 is powerful to consider as it speaks of Wisdom: "The LORD formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else." If Wisdom was created before anything else, think this lends some credence to intelligent design? :)
Worship God: Matthew 26:26-28 reminded me of the song by the Christian band Kutless called "Sea of Faces". This song reminds me of Communion every time I hear it - "I see the city lights all around me - Everyone's obscure. Ten million people each with their problems - Why should anyone care? And in Your eyes I can see - that I am not just a man, vastly lost in this world. Lost in a Sea of Faces. Your body's the bread, Your blood is the wine. Because you traded Your life for mine...."
Do you feel lost in a sea of faces? Click here and be Found!
Please join us in memorizing and meditating on three verses of Scripture today:"While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.'" Matthew 26:26-28 NIV
Prayer Point: Pray that you will examine yourself and confess your sins to Jesus before partaking in the Lord's Supper. Pray that you will fully receive Jesus when partaking in the Lord's Supper.
Comments from You and Questions of the Day: Do our readings in Matthew today remind you of Communion / The Lord's Supper at your church? Is this a positive remembrance for you? How important is Communion / The Lord's Supper to you personally these days? Do you look forward to this remembrance at your church? Have you ever experienced Communion / The Lord's Supper with others in settings outside of your normal worship experience? Maybe at a prayer gathering or outside or in other beautiful settings? Also, what verses or insights stand out to you in today's readings? Please post up by clicking on the "Comments" link below!
God bless,

LastCall: In My Father's house are many mansions -Greg Laurie
In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
—John 14:2-3
Sometimes we act as though everything and anything that can be done must be done while we are living here on earth. Of course, we want to make the most of our time, because we don't determine when we are born or when we die. But we do determine how we will live our lives. We also need to know that life does not end after our time on earth; it continues in heaven.
When a life is limited by disability or illness, when a life is cut short through death, we tend to think, Well, that is unfortunate. They never realized their dreams. But who is to say those dreams could not be realized on the other side? Who is to say that God would not complete on the other side what He has started on earth?
When we see someone who has lived a long life but has wasted it for the most part, and then we see someone with so much promise and ability and gifting who dies unexpectedly, we think it is so unfair. But that is because we are thinking about life on earth and not realizing that life continues on. For the follower of Jesus Christ, death is not the end of life, but a continuation of it in another place.
When you book a flight, sometimes you will have a stopover. I don't like stopovers myself, because sometimes things happen during stopovers. Bad weather can roll in, which can mean getting stuck there for some time. I like to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible.
For the Christian, earth is just a stopover. Waiting for us on the other side is heaven. And we will arrive there sooner than we may realize.

PropheticPerspective: Starting over
For Some Reason:
Americans and Christians,
unless they get out of the country, tend to get an over inflated idea of how important they are in the Universe.
God Never Put America In Prophecy because in the Scale of Time,
200 years is like a Baby sucking it’s thumb and hasn’t grown up yet.
Israel was in captivity TWICE AS LONG AS AMERICA HAS EXISTED
The First Time
Saying that is to remind ourselves
In the Prophetic Perspective of Eternity
Daniel had a dream of ALL the Kingdoms of the Earth
AND AMERICA WAS NOT ONE OF THEM
Prophecy is about Jesus.
It is about God’s plan to save you and me.
Along the way some interesting things get revealed.
But the Bottom Line is
It’s all about Him.
The Prophetic Perspective will start over and begin to post practical and real prophecy digest and issues relative to the fulfillment of the Scriptures and the Soon Return of Jesus. Every Post will have a disclaimer, but it needs to be said, if you are not Born-Again and you do not have the Holy Spirit to teach you, the posts will mislead you into error. Why? Because people get passionate and emotional yet forget God is Practical and Real.
His reality is not ours
We are being prepared to fit into His Persepctive.
We are trying for Week Ends to post, but likely will post some material every day. Only once a week are we trying for.
The sites and material will be old familiars and some you never heard of.
We will seek also to post material you could never afford to own,
But God want you to have.
This is Our New Beginning
We do not expect to finish our course before Jesus comes again
WOO HOO!!!
The Prophetic Perspective
Prove All Things knowing that all Prophecy is about Jesus and God revealing His Son…To us..for our…Salvation. We post material that is questionable, objectionable, and in the opinion of the Editor of the Prophetic Perspective, valid to use as God chooses to. Sometimes that is highly suspect as material setting “dates” of the Rapture is, but often these posts, may have pieces that are correct to futher study.

LastCall: The Format Change
Last Call will no longer post Prophecy Digest or Last Generation on Last Call but those Prophecy sites can be found on Michael James Stone listed below, which will carry both Last Call and Prophecy Sites.
Last Generation will post weekly updates as well as some posts daily on “Last Generation” and “Last Days of the the Last Generation” web sites.
Because Prophecy sites have deteriorated into political venues causing division and strife, We felt the Need to have a site devoted to Prophecy and the Knowledge of Who prophecy reveals: Jesus.
We will still proffer some posts relating to End Times from Rapture Ready and Bible Prophecy Today as well as other Primary Prophecy Sites, but we cannot support the obvious political agendas that attack all authorities and sets itself against Biblical Injuctions warning that these Latter Days, Christians, would be challenged to choose between Gospel or Government, Salvation or Sensationalism, and Hype over Help.
No offense, we would rather save a soul than save an agenda.
We do pray for those who have helped set a foundation, but pray they repent and turn to the First Love of their Calling:
Jesus and His Soon Return
Maranatha! He is Indeed Coming.

LastCall: The just shall live by faith -Bob Hoekstra
The just shall live by faith…So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God…I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him. (Romans 1:17; 10:17 and 2 Timothy 1:12)
The entire Christian walk is designed to be lived by faith. "The just shall live by faith." In every step of every day, in every issue that we face, we are to rely upon the Lord. This path of trust accesses grace. Faith allows us to receive and respond to the grace that God desires to shower upon us. Remember, faith is what corresponds with grace. "Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace" (Romans 4:16). Trying our hardest does not ensure God's grace working in and through us. Attempting to be passive does not bring forth a display of His grace. However, humbly trusting in the Lord, whether taking action or patiently waiting, will always result in His grace undertaking for us.
Yet, how does one specifically learn to live by faith? "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." As we get into the Scriptures, desiring to hear from the Lord, faith has opportunity to grow. Through the word, God speaks to us about Himself and His ways. He tells us His plans and purposes. He provides insights into reality. He drives away illusions and misconceptions. He offers promises and assurances. As we are thereby getting to know who the Lord is and what He wants to do, we are stirred to trust Him to work these matters into our lives. We face trials or opportunities, and we trust Him to be faithful. We learn of our own inadequacy and are driven to His sufficiency. We look to the Lord in daily personal issues, and He proves faithful. Through it all, our faith continues to grow in response to what the Lord is revealing to us and is doing for us. This is God's grace at work, because His word is "the word of His grace" (Acts 20:32).
This process illustrates the relational reality of faith. Faith is not something we can produce. It results from getting to know the Lord more and more. Paul spoke of this pattern in part of his testimony. "I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him." As the years passed, Paul was getting acquainted with the Lord in whom he had first believed. Then, as this relationship with Christ developed, Paul was increasingly convinced of his Master's ability to handle any matter entrusted into His hands. All the while, Paul's growing faith was drawing upon the resources of God's grace.
O Lord, my God, I want to live daily by faith in You. Please work in my heart a growing appetite for Your word, that my faith may develop, as I am hearing from You. Forgive me for taking matters into my own hands and not looking to You. Show me situations that I need to entrust to You. This I humbly pray, in Jesus' name, Amen.

SERIES: Daniel (Dare To Be God’s Messenger)
TITLE: Program 3 – A Tender Heart
OPEN
Let me ask you a question… have you made up your mind? You say, made up my mind about what? About life. Have you made up your mind about how you’re going to live? Have you made up your mind about what your standards are going to be? Have you made up your mind of what you’re going to do in a crisis, how you’re going to respond? Have you made up your mind of how you’re going to respond when you’re tempted? It’s vital that you make up your mind. We’ll talk about it today.
PART ONE
You know if you’re going to make up your mind you have to have something to make it up with. You have to have some standard. You have to have some basis of making decisions, unless you just live totally and completely by your emotions and then you’re dead in the water. Daniel was a man who made up his mind, but he didn’t make up his mind on the basis of nothing. He had a standard that helped him determine what he was going to do and what he, he determined to do was what set his future. Let’s go to the book of Daniel. Now you remember that Nebuchadnezzar has come and besieged the kingdom of Judah. He’s come to Jerusalem. And it says then the king brought these nobles from the royal household to Babylon.
And it describes who they were. They were youths in whom there was no defect, who were good looking, showing intelligence in every branch of wisdom, endowed with understanding and discerning knowledge and who had ability for serving in the kings court. And he ordered them, him to teach them the literature and the language of the Chaldeans. And the king appointed for them, these youths, a daily ration from the king’s choice food and from the wine which he drank, and appointed that they should be educated three years, at the end of which they were to enter the king’s personal service. Now among them from the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
Then the commander of the officials assigned new names to them; to Daniel he assigned the name Belteshazzar, to Hananiah Shadrach, to Mishael Meshach, and to Azariah Abed-nego. But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself. Now let’s just stop there. Here you have this Jewish captive; he’s a slave. Yes, he’s from nobility; yes, he’s from ah possibly the royal family. The Bible doesn’t tell us Daniel’s genealogy. And so we don’t know what his roots were, but we know that he was living during the time when Jehoiakim was king. We know that Jehoiakim was a king.
We saw this, that he was an evil king, that he did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord. And yet here you have a young man that’s living in the king’s court, so to speak, and yet he wants to do what’s right in the sight of the Lord. Now why on earth does Daniel want to do what’s right in the sight of the Lord when the culture in which he was living was an ungodly culture? Well, you have to understand that the thing that made Daniel make up his mind was his understanding of who God was, that self-existent God that is the ever-living God, who is, who was and who is to come. Daniel knew Him. It’s very interesting if you would go back on your historical chart and you would go back from Jehoiakim, the king that was reigning during the time of Daniel, go back to king Josiah.
Now Josiah was the grandson of Manasseh. And remember we saw that it was because of the iniquity of Manasseh, because he did more evil than any other king, that they were taken into captivity. But Manasseh died and just before Manasseh died he repented. He had a change of mind. Then his son reigned for a very short time and he did evil in the sight of the Lord, like Manasseh, his grandfather.
I want you to go to 2 Kings, chapter 22 while I talk to you. Okay, and so he ruled, and then Josiah became king when he was eight years old. Go to 2 Kings, chapter 22. It says Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. All right now, if you go back to this period in history, you’re going to see that in all probability Daniel was living at that time. Now we think that Daniel was fifteen or sixteen when he went into captivity because of just following the years and for as long as he lived. So we think that he was probably about fifteen or sixteen. We know that he was youth. We know that youths were between fifteen and twenty years of age and so he would have been living during the time of the affect of Josiah. Now Josiah became king when he was eight years old.
In verse three it says now it came about in the eighteenth year of king Josiah that the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam the scribe to the house of the Lord. And he sent him up to take an inventory of the house of the Lord, to see the condition that it was in because he wanted to repair the house of the Lord. So as he went in to look at the condition of the house of the Lord, and then report it to the king, he found something in the house of the Lord that he took to the king.
And in verse 8 it says this: Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah gave the book to the king who read it. And as he read it in the presence of the king it came about in verse 11, that when the king heard the words of this book, that he tore his clothes. He was in anguish because for the first time Josiah, in his eighteenth year, when he was 26 years old, for the first time he heard the Word of God. He had never heard it before.
He had a heart for God and he went about the land and he was trying to get rid of the idols, but now, now he has read the Word of God and he has a confirmation for what was in his heart because what was in his heart was to honor God as God. He had a fear of God, but now he’s got the support of the Word of God. Because when Shaphan found the book, it was the book of the law. It was Genesis and Exodus and Leviticus and Numbers and Deuteronomy.
And he would read about the blessings and the cursings. He would read about the judgments that God said would come upon them if they did not obey Him, if they did not listen to Him. And he also read about the blessings that could be theirs if they would listen to the Word of God, if they would obey the Word of God. It was a matter of what? Making up their mind. Make up your mind. Are you going to listen to Me? If you are I will bless you. Are you going to disobey Me? If you do I will have to curse you. I have to do that because I am God. I have set before you life and death.
I have set before you blessing and cursing; now choose life that you might live and that I might bless you abundantly.
Josiah heard the words of the book and this is what he said, Go and inquire of the Lord, verse 13, for me and the people and all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found, for great is the wrath of the Lord that burns against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that is written in it. Our fathers didn’t listen. Our fathers didn’t make up their mind that they were going to obey God. They didn’t listen. And because they didn’t listen the wrath of the Lord is against us. And it says so Hilkiah the priest, and all these other people, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the Second Quarter); and they spoke to her.
And she said to them, this is a woman. Very rarely do you see a woman in this position in the Old Testament or in, even in the New Testament. And she said to them, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Tell the man who sent you to me, thus says the Lord: Behold I bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read. Now we know that He is going to do this because this is what’s happening in the book of Daniel in the third year of Jehoiakim when Nebuchadnezzar comes down and besieges Jerusalem. It is because they have disobeyed. It is because of the evil of Manasseh.
It is because of the prophecy that Jeremiah gave the people in Jeremiah 25, as we have looked at. And yet they covered their ears. They stuck their fingers in their ears and they said I don’t want to hear it. And you may not want to hear it, but it doesn’t stop it from happening. It doesn’t stop it from happening. What stops the judgment of God from happening is our obedience. It’s our repentance. It’s our turning around. It’s our doing what God tells us to do beloved. It’s making up our mind, I am going to believe God. I am going to obey God.
That’s what it is precious one. Do I sound adamant? Forgive me; but it’s the passion of my heart that you and I make up our mind that we are going to listen to God and we are going to do what God says and we are not going to compromise ourselves, even though we find ourselves in a strange environment or in a culture that is totally and absolutely contrary to the culture that God would have us live in. We’re to make up our mind that we’re going to be men and women of God.
And so she says this is what God is going to do. Evil is going to come. It is guaranteed it is going to come. He says because, Huldah says that God says, because they have forsaken Me and have burned incense to other gods that they might provoke Me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore My wrath burns against this place and it shall not be quenched.
Listen, wrath is coming. It’s fire and it will not be quenched. You say, then he just goes ahead and lives as if it’s coming. No, no, wait until after the break and you hear the but in this prophecy that is coming because it will bring you great encouragement beloved, great encouragement. All you have to do is make up your mind that God is God and you’re going to serve Him and you’re not going to compromise no matter the pressure. We’ll talk about it in just a minute.
PART TWO
Like it or not beloved, God’s hand of judgment is coming. It is coming upon this world. It is coming upon this nation. God is going to have to judge us because our cup of iniquity is full, but there is hope. Listen to what Huldah the prophetess spoke to Josiah the king under the inspiration of the Lord and be encouraged. She said this is what’s going to happen, she’s speaking as God is speaking, therefore My wrath burns against this place, and it shall not quenched.
But to the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of the Lord, thus you shall say to him, thus says the Lord God of Israel, regarding the words which you have heard, because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard and I would mark that like I mark listen, when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants that they should become a desolation and a curse, and you have torn your clothes and you have wept before Me, I truly have heard you, I have seen your heart. I have seen the tenderness of your heart.
I have seen what has happened when you’ve heard My word and I’ve seen the anguish as you’ve torn your clothes. I’ve watched as you have wept before Me. And I see that you’re grief stricken because you’ve hurt My holiness, because your people have been in great sin, the sin of your grandfather Manasseh, the sin of your father. I’ve seen you. I’ve heard you weep. Because of that I’m not going to bring judgment in your lifetime.
Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, neither shall your eyes see all the evil which I will bring on this place, because you listened, because you heard what I said. It says then the king sent, 2 Kings, chapter 23, and gathered to him all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. And the king went up to the house of the Lord and to all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their hearing the words of the book of the covenant, which was found in the house of the Lord. All the people were there, all the people, the mommas, the daddies, the children. Daniel, Daniel heard the words of the book of God. Daniel heard as they read from morning until evening the words of the book.
And that young heart stood there and listened and believed, believed. That’s why Daniel knows not to eat the king’s food. That’s why Daniel knows not to drink the king’s wine. You say, but what’s wrong with it? God had set for His people certain restrictions that would keep them as a separate people. We find out later as we get into history and come down with all of our scientific marvels and the things that we have learned, we see that these dietary laws protected them, healthwise, because they didn’t have refrigeration, because they didn’t have these other things. But listen; those were to keep them as a separate people. Those were to keep them as a people that were distinquishable from all the other people on the face of this earth.
And he knew that there were certain ways that food was to be prepared. He knew that they couldn’t eat certain foods and so he determined that he was not going to defile himself. He also knew enough because he was being taught the literature of the Chaldeans and because of the worship of their gods that this food often times was sacrificed, offered to the gods and he wasn’t going to eat food that was sacrificed to gods. He wasn’t going to drink wine that was poured out as a libation to other gods that were not gods. He was going to be true to his God.
And so therefore he makes up his mind and he comes up with a plan. But what I want you to see is why he makes up his mind. How he’s able to come up with a plan. He comes up with a plan and that plan in essence is: give us nothing to drink, but water, give us nothing to eat, but vegetables and herbs. He’s going to eat those.
He’s not going to eat the things from the king’s table. Now when he comes up with this plan, the official says to him, no, no, no. That’s not going to work, because what’s going to happen if you do that and you end up getting sick or being pale or sickly or
